The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Grand Celebration Powwow
June 15 – June 17, 2018
The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Grand Celebration Powwow has been an annual event since 1992, being held on the third weekend each June. The Grand Celebration Powwow is a contest powwow drawing dancers and drum groups from around the nation and Canada who compete for substantial prize money in a variety of categories. The 27th Annual Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Grand Celebration Powwow is hosted at the Grand Casino Hinckley Powwow Grounds in Hinckley, Minnesota.
Rock the Garden presented by 89.3 The Current

Kickoff to summer starts with Rock the Garden, one of the best outdoor music festivals in the Twin Cities. One day, two stages and eight performances from artists such as Father John Misty, Chastity Brown and Kamasi Washington – all at the Walker Art Center, overlooking the iconic Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and an unbelievable view of the downtown skyline.
Tofte Trek 10k Wilderness Run and Walk
July 4, 2018
This annual 10KM trail run on the morning of July 4th is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. The run starts and finishes at the Birch Grove School on the west side of Tofte. The morning starts with children’s “sprint” races (by age), then a youth mile run followed by the pack of runners and walkers. All funds are donated to the Sugarbush Trail Association for maintenance and upkeep of the area’s cross country ski trails.
Basilica Block Party
With two days of music acts, you are sure to have a great time at the Basilica Block Party. Proceeds from the event benefit The Basilica Landmark, which preserves, restores and advances the historic Basilica of Saint Mary for all generations. In addition, a portion of all proceeds goes to The Basilica St. Vincent de Paul outreach program, which provides services to those in need.
Northeast Food Truck Rally
Northeast Minneapolis, MN

The Minnesota Food Truck Association will be hosting the 3rd Annual Northeast Food Truck Rally, sponsored by Able Seedhouse & Brewery and Meals On Wheels. This year, the event theme is “Around the World”, featuring 12 trucks offering a variety internationally inspired dishes – no two trucks will be the same!
North Shore Water Festival
Grand Marais, MN
July 20 – July 22
The North Shore Water Festival will have experts on-hand offering fishing, touring kayak and canoe demonstrations, stand-up paddle board (SUP) demo activities in the harbor, including SUP yoga, plus check out what new water and outdoor gear is available this year. Most activities are free to the public, and only require signing a waiver and/or registering in advance for SUP board yoga.
Detroit Lakes, MN
August 2 – August 4, 2018
WE Fest has been at the forefront of the country music festival scene for nearly four decades. Located at Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, WE Fest has been home to the biggest names in country music while thousands of festival-goers camp all weekend in one of the nation’s most beautiful areas. Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line and many more are taking the stage this year.
Bayfront Blues Festival
August 10 – August 12, 2018
The Bayfront Blues Festival, one of the largest annual outdoor music events in the upper Midwest. Each year nearly 20,000 fans are treated to more than thirty different acts on two stages at one of the region’s most beautiful open-air venues: Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park.
The Renaissance Festival
Open weekends: August 18 – September 30, 2018
The Renaissance Festival takes place in a 16th century-inspired European village that features 16 stages of live entertainment. In addition, over 250 artisans fill the Festival marketplace to display and sell their handcrafted wares for a truly unique shopping experience. Festival-goers can interact with hundreds of memorable characters roaming the village streets as well as view live armored jousting throughout the day.
Minnesota State Fair
St. Paul, MN
August 23 – September 3, 2018
Often referred to as the “Great Minnesota Get-Together,” the annual Minnesota State Fair is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. The fair attracts nearly 2 million guests annually. Fairgoers can enjoy everything from grandstand acts to thrill rides to agriculture showcases and much, much more.
