Hays Take On: Parlour
Hays Take On is a blog series where we explore the Twin Cities in order to find the best and most interesting food and drink stops. Check for updates every Wednesday and follow along to see what we find!
With so many great food and drink options in the North Loop, we decided to head back down this week to a great spot that has both! Parlour, located just off of North Washington Ave. is home to one of the most talked about burgers, but also a solid list of signature cocktails, great tap list, and a very well stocked bar.
Parlour has the feel of an old school clubhouse where the well-heeled and the hipster generations mix and mingle. Slightly dark and loud in the later evening hours, this place still makes for a great date spot with couches and plush couches galore. Whether it’s busy or not, you still get that great “hidden gem” feel that is incredibly unique.
Despite the “burger buzz” that’s surrounded the Twin Cities for the last few years, this is still the go-to burger. Sensational flavor and texture, it literally melts in your mouth. The pillowy yet denseless bun makes all the difference. Never underestimate the importance of the bun when it comes to a burger! The chicken sandwich had exceptional flavor and was fried to perfection, but the burger was completely gone before a second bite of the chicken sandwich. The drink selection is incredible and you really can’t go wrong with any of the classics or their signatures, with an impressive list of alcohol on the menu.
If you haven’t tried Burrough upstairs you must, but if you want the burger, you can only get it at the bar and a specific table upstairs at this time. Make sure you ask for it when you make a reservation… But better yet, just go directly to Parlour, do not pass go, order a Burger with an Old Fashion and a pony Miller High Life, and you’ll be all set.
