Hays Take this week takes a look at another food truck turned store front in Urban Sub. Known for their great sandwiches, there’s plenty of great eats to be found in the truck and in the store.
While you can find their food truck around town at different locations, Urban Sub’s brick and mortar store front is over near the West End shops in St. Louis Park. While the store may not be huge, it fits into the expectations of most great sub shops as well as has more than enough space to create the same great subs that the truck provides. Walking in the door you can see meat being cut fresh, ingredients being thrown together, and a nice modern counter with a clearly marked menu above. The overall feel is very modern with dark wood counters and dark colored tables along the back wall so you can enjoy in the restaurant.
Urban Sub explores all different types of sandwiches and isn’t afraid to venture away from the standard deli-meat creations you typically see at a normal standard chain. Their in-house restaurant includes everything from Philly Cheese to Ruebens to Meatball Subs to Buffalo Chicken and more! They also explore a variety of breads and cheeses which makes each sandwich even more unique. One of our favorites is their number 1 for a good reason, which is the Chipotle Pulled Pork. Not something you see too often, this sandwich is filled with their house roasted pork that’s seasoned with special chipotle peppers and topped with their homemade coleslaw and an incredible queso fresco all on a grilled ciabatta roll. There’s so much flavor just from a few ingredients, but everything works together well to create a great sandwich. They also feature a build your own sub featuring all of their great ingredients if you’re particular on your sandwich selection.
While Urban Sub may seem like another sub chain, their deep and diverse menu can leave you satisfied no matter what kind of food you’re in the mood for. With tons of great ingredients and handmade specials, you’re sure to find something great!
