Hays Take On: Trapeze

On the south side of Uptown on the corner of Irving and Lake St. is a small blue door with red trim and a singular window that shows the only indication of our take this week. Nestled in right across from a previous take, Lake and Irving, sits Trapeze, a bright fun cocktail bar that specializes in champagne and fun times.

The Place

Chances are you won’t spot Trapeze while driving down Lake St. as the building has little signage besides the small window graphic. When you do find it, you’ll head in the door to a very narrow seating area, with a bar down the left side, small tables for two through to the back, and two seats by the window immediately to your left. While seating may be limited, the space still has a open feel due to the bright and colorful art on the walls. Beautiful wood racks for champagne glasses hang behind the bar increase the classiness level higher and an exposed ceiling brings in that hidden spot or speakeasy type of atmosphere. Only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5:00 to midnight, this place is the perfect fit to start or end your night!

The Product

While the menu is small, it mainly focuses on all drinks light and bubbly! With TONS of bottles of sparkling wine to pick from as well as champagne cocktail options, if you’re a bubbly fan, you’re in for a treat. They also have beer, cider, and non-sparkling wine if that’s more your speed and a food menu including meats, cheeses, and other snacks to pair with your drink! If you’re an oyster fan, they’ve also started doing their own Oyster Power Hour, where between 5:30 and 6:30 you can snack on $1 oysters!

The Take

Sneaking into Trapeze is a great way to get your night rolling or finish your night off for one “last” drink. With a great atmosphere that starts off like a speakeasy but transforms into a colorful and fun world inside, Trapeze is definitely worth a visit!
