Back to a brewery for Hays Take this week! This time we headed right down the road to St. Louis Park to check out the popular Steel Toe Brewing Company! Best known for their Size 7 IPA and the Provider that you can find in plenty of bars, as well as many other great choices that have been brewed since 2011!
Located just off of Belt Line and Highway 100, Steel Toe’s taproom is tucked back into an small industrial neighborhood and you might miss it if you haven’t visited before. Check for the awning outside as you turn the corner of W 35th Street as well as the usual food truck pulled up to the outdoor patio. Inside the door you’ll see the smaller bar space where you can order your beers, get a growler, or grab some merch. Heading back further enter through another door and arrive in their extra big tap room. With high ceilings, a big garage door, and plenty of tables a chairs, this room makes for an ideal gathering place for friends and family to enjoy some brews! There’s also access to their patio and any food trucks out the back as well as another tap area to order beers for private events as well!
Steel Toe Brewery features six year-round choices as well as a solid list of rotating and seasonal brews for you to pick from. They cover a wide variety of styles, with their great IPA’s the Size 4 and Size 7 and their double IPA the Sticker IPA as well as their dark ale, Dissent and the red ale the Rainmaker. Our favorite of the bunch has to be the Provider… We love a good light beer and with how cold the weather has been, we needed that little reminder of sunshine. As for rotating taps, the Size 11 took us by surprise as a favorite. A triple IPA, which means there’s 3x as many hops, which should create something very bitter, but gets balanced out by a great fruitiness that also doesn’t overpower. They’ve found a perfect balance to keep an 11% ABV beer very drinkable!
A brewery close to home with a big tap room? Sign us up every time. Plus with the availability in plenty of stores around Minnesota, you won’t ever have to go a day without one of your Steel Toe favorites!
