Hays Take On: Meyvn Eats

Meyvn is self described as a lot of things to a lot of people, and with its variety of food, drinks, and atmospheres, we think they’ve nailed in on the head. With everything from wood fired bagels, to great lunches and dinners, to craft cocktails, you can expect a little bit of everything when visiting.

The Place

Just down Lake St. at S Bryant Ave, Meyvn is easily accessible and has a beautiful corner spot with large windows along the outside of the building. With a cool open layout and industrial style ceiling, you get a view of the bar, dining space, and the counter as you walk in. Ordering food goes through the counter in more of a fast casual style, but at the counter is where you can see back to the wood fired oven as well as all of the prep space and assembly lines. Each section of the restaurant has a different vibe. The dining space features a nice calm coffeeshop atmosphere, with stylish lights and white tables, the counter and kitchen have a very industrial vibe with the large oven and metal cooking spaces, and the bar features a wooden background, some greenery, and a cool garage door style window that opens to their patio bar.


The Product

The description of a lot of things to a lot of people also fits for their menu. Their focus starts on wood fired bagels, which creates a whole different taste than many other bagel spots that boil or bake. With a nice crispy outside and extra chewy dough, accompanied by some of their sweet cream cheese, these make for a great breakfast or afternoon snack! You can also utilize these bagels in a lunch style with breakfast meats, eggs, and other great bagel accompaniments. Next we move on to their small plates, which can be truly anything. With pierogis, latkes, fried cauliflower, and even milk and cookies, you’ll be sure to find something new and surprising, with each visit. If you think this is already getting a little wild, we’re about to take another turn in that they have an incredible double cheeseburger. This burger comes with two thick patties, lettuce, tomato, and onion and a TON of in house made white American Cheese. This thing is cheesy but never loses that great melt in your mouth taste that we love in burgers. The bun is also lightly fried on the outside like the bagels creating a crispy outer layer that adds more depth to this great burger. As we only stopped in for lunch this week, we’ll save the cocktail section of Meyvn for another take, so be on the lookout for part 2!


The Take

We’re only through the food and Meyvn is covering all of the bases. This really is a place for any occasion and we’re excited to dive into the cocktails in a future edition!
