Hays Take On: Harriet’s Inn

Hays Take this week revolves around a place we think is turning into a great neighborhood go to for anyone around 40th and Lyndale. With a large menu that has plenty of deals, lots of great tap choices, and a fun atmosphere inside, this place has a little bit of everything for everyone!

The Place

Just down 40th Street from 35W, Harriet’s Inn is a new building that replaced the old gas station on the corner of Lyndale. With a beautiful red brick outer finish and a big parking lot on the side, this spot is hard to miss and easy to stop at. Inside is bar side of the dining area, that features their beautiful wood bar that runs the length of the building with a great custom shelving area behind it that holds many bottles of wine, decorations, and TV’s so you can catch any game or event thats on. In the middle is a huge mirror that backs their great tap selection, that features plenty of Minnesota’s finest as well as your classics. One awesome feature we enjoy is the outlets underneath bar also have USB ports for easy charging as well, so don’t be afraid to grab a bite and a beer while you finish up some work for the day! On the other side of the divider is the main dining space, which is an open feel with plenty of windows that keep the room bright and friendly. The overall feel is that of a pub, but with the friendly staff, managers that aren’t afraid to come say hello, and friendly clientele, you’ll feel right at home.

The Product

The menu at Harriet’s Inn is huge, and they cover a large variety of food, but they excel in their bar food, mainly their appetizers, burgers, and a few specialties. For starters, their Korean Gochujang wings come covered in a spicy, yet smooth sauce that will have you licking your fingers for another taste. In the burger category they venture into the Juicy Lucy area, but have plenty of variety that keeps things interesting. Their PB and Bacon Lucy sounds a bit questionable in theory, but in reality this one is a winner. A thick burger patty stuffed with peanut butter, topped with thick bacon, this is a winner for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They also have great walleye fish n chips, a variety of pot pies for the true Minnesotan’s, as well as a full menu for brunch! While Harriet’s Inn bar only has beer and wine, they have a vast selection to keep you happy, as well as rotating taps to keep things fresh. They also feature cans and bottles as well so you can always have access to your favorites. With all of these great selections it can be hard to choose, but Harriet’s Inn will help you with all of the great deals they offer throughout the week. Happy hours run twice a day and cover their shareables and drinks, and during the week it runs from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM, making this a great lunch, or after work spot.
