Hays Take On: Fulton Brewery

Hays Take On is a blog series where we explore the Twin Cities in order to find the best and most interesting food and drink stops. Check for updates every Wednesday and follow along to see what we find!

We decided to make our first stop at Fulton brewery, located in the north loop area of downtown Minneapolis. Just blocks away from the home of the Minnesota Twins, Target Field, Fulton was founded in 2009 and is best known for its signature Lonely Blonde Pale Ale and Sweet Child of Vine IPA.

The Place:

Fulton boasts a decent sized tap room with the actual brewing area visible slightly from the end of the bar. Mainly tables and high tops near the bar, there is a nice area to buy Fulton Merchandise right when you walk in as well as a back area with booths to sit at as well. When we visited the brewery there was a band setting up in the back area, which was apart of their Sunday Music Series, a weekly event where different bands perform in the taproom. They also have a nice outdoor patio area where they have just launched their own taproom kitchen, which is an airstream trailer converted into a food truck. With a focus on food that pairs with beer, you’ll find plenty of different sausages and hot dogs on this menu and many other items worth checking out!

The Product:

As the Lonely Blonde and Sweet Child of Vine are two staples that many have tried, we decided to try out their Pils Continental Pilsner and Specter North-East Style IPA. The Specter had a nice creamy feel with tons of ingredients that leaves you with a nice fresh finish at the end of your sip. The Specter is available only once a year for a limited time, so you’ll have to wait until it comes around again to give it a try. The Pils is a classic pilsner inspired by central European pale lagers, and luckily it is available at Fulton year round on tap and in bottles. There are so many other options on the menu as well, including 6 staple brews as well as 6-10 more other brews from porters to coffee stouts and more. You can see exactly what’s on tap the day you go by checking out their menu online to make sure you can try out something new every time you visit!

The Take:

Overall, it was great to see the home of some of the most popular beers Minneapolis has to offer. With a great rotation of beers and plenty of events in the taproom, you’ll find something new every time you visit. Being so close to Target field as well as the rest of the North Loop area, Fulton is a great location to start, finish, or spend your day in Minneapolis.
